Total glyphosate use in Connecticut by county
Even though Connecticut is not a major agricultural state and has few large farms and no industrial-size farms, there is still some farm use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup. Glyphosate recently was declared a "probable carcinogen" by the World Health Organization. Many GMOs are designed to be resistant to Roundup, though it is not certain the increased use of it in Connecticut is the result of gorwing more GMO crops here. If any GMO crops are being grown in Connecticut, most likely they are feed corn, some sweet corn and hay.
